The purity of Calasetta’s terroir

We cultivate century-old vines on the sandy soils of the island of Sant’Antioco, mainly in the municipality of Calasetta.

Just two expressions

Two wines, a single region to explore

RAIJE Carignano del Sulcis DOC - Rosso

The Carignano grapes are harvested at full ripeness from the vineyards in Calasetta and taken to the winery, where the winemaking process begins. Fermentation takes place in contact with the skins for around 10 days, at a controlled temperature of between 26 and 28 °C. This maceration phase is essential for extracting colour, aromas, tannins and structure, giving the wine intensity and balance.

Once alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, a natural process that softens its profile and harmonises its character. Ageing continues exclusively in stainless steel tanks until bottling, without any time spent in oak. This approach preserves the purity of the fruit, the freshness and the authentic identity of Carignano, faithfully expressing the character of the terroir and the grape variety.

RÜZÒ Carignano del Sulcis DOC - Rosato

Our Rosé is made from Carignano grapes, a red grape variety that finds its authentic and refined expression in the vineyards of Calasetta. The white wine-making process involves the immediate separation of the must from the skins, seeds and stalks straight after harvest, preserving freshness, elegance and aromatic delicacy.

Fermentation takes place without maceration on the skins for around seven days, at controlled temperatures between 16 and 18 °C. The wine is then aged in stainless steel on the fine lees for two or three months, with periodic batonnage to enrich its structure, smoothness and complexity. After ageing, it is bottled, preserving its freshness and the most authentic expression of Carignano.
